Overview
This article provides an overview of the Unsubscribe Automation that is built into the system for each organization. This automation starts with a special link known as a Callback Link (please click here [https://help.mapstechnologies.com/en/support/solutions/articles/73000536107-how-to-use-callback-links] to learn more about Callback Links) that forward the user to a configurable URL and also tracks the click back to the contact in the system. Unlike other customizable Callback Links, each organization has a preconfigured Unsubscribe Callback Link that forwards to an Unsubscribe landing page where the contact can confirm the unsubscribe action or can cancel. This Unsubscribe Callback Link can be placed in outbound emails and text messages (typically these unsubscribe of links can be placed in the footer of an email along with basic information such as company name, address, phone number, and any other information required for CAN-SPAM Act compliance). If a contact confirms that they want to unsubscribe, the system will automatically change the Do Not Contact status of the contact to Enabled (the Do Not Contact status can be found in the Communication Panel on the right pane and also in the Contact Details page on the left pane). When Do Not Contact has been enabled, this will block all outbound marketing messages from being sent to the contact.
It should be noted that your internal organizational users can change the Do Not Contact status to off even after the contact has unsubscribed. If this action is taken, the contact will receive messages if they are sent direct messages or put into automation sequences.
