Rules Description:
Rules are where the power of automation comes from. Rules can allow ACTIONS to happen in your organization automatically. There are two parts to a rule, a condition, and an action. This is a fancy way of saying cause and effect. The condition is the cause. A few conditions you might use are form submitted, added to sequence, or add/update opportunity in a pipeline. You can define your condition to make the rule more specific. You might not want action to happen for everyone being added to any sequence in your organization. You most likely want to specify what sequence triggers the action. Maybe you want to narrow down the list of contacts even more, by specifying a tag they must have for the rule to activate. While you can define conditions, you can only have ONE CONDITION PER RULE.
On the other end of a rule are the actions. This is what will happen when the condition occurs. There are several actions you might use frequently use such as add to sequence, add tag, and add/update an opportunity in a pipeline. You CAN have more than one action per rule, but we advise you to use no more than three. If you are a pro rule builder and want to build out an elaborate rule, we recommend that you split that rule up into multiple rules. This makes it easier to troubleshoot if you notice a rule is not working as expected.
There are so many more conditions and actions than the ones I listed above. Much like pipelines and sequences, the sky is the limit with rules.
