TASK DESCRIPTION: Sending Emails from a Root Domain

OBJECTIVE: How to send emails from your root domain

ORGANIZATION: Under Admin or System User

SYSTEM PERMISSION LEVEL: System Admin or System User

Step 1

Go to www.mapstechnologies.com and click the green Login button then choose the Application login

Step 2

Enter your username and password then click the blue Login button.

Step 3

Click on your Organization (if you are in multiple organizations). If you are only in one, you will begin on the Dashboard.

Please note that sending emails from your root domain will only work if you have added the DNS records a MAPS CST member has provided you to your business’s domain, and you are set up on MailGun.

We also advise that you only send emails (coming from your root domain) to addresses that you know are valid. Sending emails to invalid inboxes can harm the integrity of your email domain more than if you had sent them from a subdomain.

Steps 4-6 will show you how to check to see if your MAPS organization meets the requirements.

Step 4

Click on Settings in the Module Menu Panel.

Step 5:

In the menu at the top of the Settings screen, select the SMTP Services tab.

Step 6:

Check the domain listed in the MailGun provider section (shown in the image below). If the domain is mg.mapstechnologies.com, the proper DNS records have either NOT been added, or have NOT been verified. We recommend reaching out to a CST member for assistance.

If the domain listed contains your domain with mg in front of it, then you can proceed with the next steps.

You can send an email using the root domain to an individual contact by navigating either to the Contacts module or the Communication Panel. We will start by showing you how to send the email through the Contacts module.

Step 7:

To navigate to the Contacts module, click on Contacts in the Module Menu Panel.

Step 8:

Click on the contact you want to email.

Step 9:

Click on the Send Email tab in the communications section of the screen. Once the Send Email tab turns blue, click the diagonal arrows to make the composition box appear.

Step 10:

By default, the name and email address associated with your user will appear as the sender’s name and email. You can change the name to whatever you prefer, as it is just a label. For the email address, ensure it matches your organization’s domain as shown in Step 6 and includes the “mg” portion of the addressBefore the @ symbol, you can choose any prefix, but we recommend using a descriptive name, or group identifier (e.g., info, admin, support, etc.).

Once you have your email written, go ahead and click Send to send your email.

Next, we will show you how to send an email from the root domain through the Communication Panel
