TASK DESCRIPTION: Emails Sent from Root Domain in Tag Automation
OBJECTIVE: How to send from a root domain in a tag automation
ORGANIZATION: Under Admin or System User
SYSTEM PERMISSION LEVEL: System Admin or System User
Step 1:
Go to www.mapstechnologies.com and click the green Login button then choose the Application login.
Step 2:
Enter your username and password then click the blue Login button.
Step 3:
Click on your Organization (if you are in multiple organizations). If you are only in one, you will begin on the Dashboard.
Please note that sending emails from your root domain will only work if you have added the DNS records a MAPS CST member has provided you to your business’s domain, and you are set up on MailGun.
We also advise that you only send emails (coming from your root domain) to addresses that you know are valid. Sending emails to invalid inboxes can harm the integrity of your email domain more than if you had sent them from a subdomain.
Steps 4-6 will show you how to check to see if your MAPS organization meets the requirements.
Step 4:
Click on Settings in the Module Menu Panel.
Step 5:
In the menu at the top of the Settings screen, select the SMTP Services tab.
Step 6:
Check the domain listed in the MailGun provider section (shown in the image below). If the domain is mg.mapstechnologies.com, the proper DNS records have either NOT been added, or have NOT been verified. We recommend reaching out to a CST member for assistance.
If the domain listed contains your domain with mg in front of it, then you can proceed with the next steps.
Step 7:
Before setting up Tag Automation, you need to configure the sequence to send emails from the root domain.
Click on Automation in the Module Menu Panel and select Sequences from the dropdown menu.
Step 8:
You can configure a pre-existing sequence or click the blue Add New Sequence button to create a new sequence.
Step 9:
Since the email will be sent from the root domain, you do not need to add a user in the Users field. Instead, use the From Address fields. For the name field, you can enter any name you prefer, as it is just a label. For the email address field, you will need to make sure it matches your organization’s domain as shown in Step 6, and it includes the “mg” portion of the address. Before the @ symbol, you can choose any prefix, but we recommend using a descriptive name, or group identifier (e.g., info, admin, support, etc.).
Step 10:
Once you have saved the sequence, you can proceed with setting up the Tag Automation as you normally would.
